Do people actually believe this shit? Is this real? Because if so, I don’t even know how to express how incredibly stupid this is. Jesus.
First off - It’s not as if all women share the same fucking hive mind. Who the hell are you to say what women (as a whole, no less) want.

Second - I agree that it can sometimes be viewed as a way of pitying someone, (while using it as a compliment before letting them down easy, for example).
But it’s still just that- it’s a god damn compliment.
It’s the same as saying “Hey, I think you’re really cool, but I’m just not interested, I’m sorry.”
Or “Hey, I think you’re really sweet, but I don’t think it’s going to work out.”
No matter what the context, it’s still a compliment, and if any guy thinks that’s why they can’t get a girlfriend, then that’s when I pity them.

But what do I know, because I’m female I must want an unfeeling asshole who disrespects me and everything I love. I can’t help waking up in the morning with this crazy desire for someone who will probably make me feel like shit, and who, if I’m lucky(!), will make me hate myself. People who go for that whole loving, nurturing relationship really don’t know what they’re missing. I mean, even when I’m with my guy friends I often find myself thinking “wow, you would really get some action if you’d stop being so kind and generous to everyone, that really puts me and the rest of the female population off.”
